Today starts a series of guest blogs by my dear friend Debra. These devotions were originally intended for the women in her extended family. With her permission, I’m extending her reach to you. I think you will find that they are insightful and challenging. Follow along…
Hello Ladies,
God has put something on my heart to do, so I will try to do it according to His will. I woke up one morning recently, with the thoughts to challenge each of us to really focus on one particular Fruit of the Spirit each day. I figured we would go through them as listed in Galatians 5:22-23. God gave me a couple of Bible verses for each one, but there are many more verses that could accompany each fruit.
You might find this challenge to be easier on some days than others, probably depending on your interactions with others that day. But God’s Word to us doesn’t change based on others in our lives. In fact, when we face challenging situations, that’s when God is shaping us and making us more like Him, if we let Him.
As women who say we have put our faith in Jesus, and have invited Him to be our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit lives inside of each of us and wants to help us grow and become more like Him each day. These challenges are meant to help with that process.
So, I will send a new challenge each morning, and hopefully you can read it in the morning and ask God to help you really focus on that fruit that day. Or any others He shows you, of course. I love you all, and am looking forward to hearing how God works in each one of us during this time.
Read Galatians 5:19-21 to remind us how not to act. Then verses 22-23 tell us how others will know we have Jesus living inside of us – they will see our fruit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”
Love,
Debra
